Hassan: Nuggehalli Project Development Officer in the Taluk has collected lakhs of rupees by making anonymous bills, alleged Former MLC M. A. Gopalaswamy.
Addressing a press conference in the Town, he said that PDO Harish had written cheques in the name of several agencies and extorted more than Rs. 40 lakh from them without informing the Gram Panchayat members. If the higher-ups conducted an inquiry into the matter and the PDO was not suspended, a sit-in protest would be held in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he warned.
In April last year, Rs. 6.40 lakh was spent on non-construction of the pipeline. He wrote a cheque and gave it to the shops and took money from them. The cheque of Rs. 65,000 has been given for computer repairs. But the institution of the said name is not in the Taluk. Its address can’t be found, he alleged.
Further, he alleged that he had written a cheque in the name of a benami firm and had been involved in the racket of collecting money for the past eight years.
