Hassan: MLA A. T. Ramaswamy said “I have taken it up as a challenge that I have been thrown out by portraying myself as a bad person. As long as the blessings of all of you are on me, such people will not be able to touch me,” he said.

He was speaking at a meeting of well-wishers of MLA A. T. Ramaswamy at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple premises in Chikkabommanahalli here. “As an MLA, it will give me a good name if I sanction title deeds to farmers who have been tilling their lands for 40 years, but they denied it by telling the authorities not to keep the file ready just to malign me. How justified is this?” he asked.

“It has been a practice to conspire against me for over a year now and when I went to the Savanur Agriculture Credit Bank programme, I came to know that the farmers there had not taken any loan. At the event where Revanna and the bank officials were present, I told him that the farmers were being cheated here and that the farmers who had not taken loans were being cheated because they were getting loans in their pahani. When I informed Revanna stopped me by saying not to discuss anything, adding that I could not be an MLA if I sit quiet looking at such injustices.

“Though everyone except me asked to give a ticket to Prajwal Revanna at a meeting held at Kalyana Mantapa in Channapatna in Hassan to finalise the candidate for Hassan Lok Sabha seat, I did not agree to it as I did not want the old Former Prime Minister to be sent out of his Constituency. From that day onwards, hatred started against me, he said and accused, Revanna of trying to kill him for his selfish ends in order to compromise the case filed by A. Manju against MP Prajwal.

He further said, “I am a representative of the masses, I am the one who is doing politics for you. I will not leave your hands till the rest of my life and I will work for the people of the Constituency as long as I am in politics. I will work hard to increase the dignity and respect of the Taluk. I will be with you on the decision of all of you. In the coming days, I will decide my political move with you all,” he said.

Sharing their views at the meeting, various leaders said, “We will work hard for your victory by being committed to the decision taken by Ramaswamy politically.”
