Hassan: It has now been reported that in all five students have been killed in a head on collision between a car and a KSTRC bus on Hassan-Belur Highway on Tuesday March 22.
Earlier, it was confirmed that four students identified as Akmal, Mohammed Kaif, Thouheed, Mohammed Jilani all 18 years of age were killed. Now another 19-year-old youth Riyas has been confirmed dead. All were students of Vidyavikas PU College in Belur.
The bus was heading towards Chikkamagaluru from Bengaluru while students were coming to Hassan from Belur after finishing their classes.
The mishap occurred when the car trying to overtake another vehicle rammed into the bus coming from opposite direction.
According to eye witness rash and negligent driving of students is said to be the reason for the mishap. All the bodies have been shifted to Belur Government Hospital for autopsy.
Belur Police has registered a case and are investigating.
