Hassan: In a major shock to a farmer who was hoping that his hard-earned maize would yield huge profits, hundreds of quintals of jowar worth lakhs of rupees were burnt by miscreants on the night of Friday January 6.

Yogesh, a farmer from Anjalli Village in the Taluk, was crushed to death in a heap of jowar. The richly grown corn was dumped next to the house and some miscreants have set it on fire. Locals were informed when the fire broke out and efforts were made to douse the fire by the villagers but by then it was almost gutted in the fire.

Yogesh said that the jowar was completely destroyed due to the sudden fire that engulfed the heap.
