Hassan: Mother, kids consume poison, one child dies

Hassan: An incident wherein mother, who consumed rat medicine and administered poison to two of her children has occurred under Pension Mohalla Police Station Limits. One of her children has died, said Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar.

Zeenat Banu, wife of M. D. Dildar, a resident of Chippinakatte, Fishermen Street, 2nd Cross, Hassan City, is the woman who has been booked in the case. Zeenat Banu’s mother-in-law Seema, in her complaint to the police, said her son Dildar had married Zeenat Banu of Sattigal near Uppinangady in Dakshina Kannada District 12 years ago and had children named Mohammed Azaan, Sunaina Dildar, and Mohammed Aran, all of whom lived together, she has stated.

Further, she has stated that Zeenat was sad that now of her family members visited her and for this very reason on Saturday January 7, at around 4.00 pm when there was no one at home, Zeenat Banu mixed the rat medicine she had brought with milk and gave it to both her children Sunaina and her youngest son Mohammed Aran also consuming herself.

The next day, her son, Mohammed Aran, was admitted to the Hassan Government Hospital after he complained of vomitting and diahorrea. However, the treatment failed and Mohammad Aran died in the afternoon. The SP said Seema had lodged a complaint that her daughter-in-law Zeenat Banu and daughter Sunaina Dildar were undergoing treatment at the Hospital. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Pension Mohalla Police Station.
