Hassan: Municipality Chairperson Theertha Kumari said, “The Indira Canteens set up for the needy, the poor and labourers are in a state of disrepair and if not repaired immediately, appropriate action will be taken against them, she asserted.
Speaking to mediapersons after a surprise visit to Indira canteen opposite Hardikar Circle along with Municipal Councillors, she said that the canteen was functioning without any employees. It was also found that the vegetables used for cooking were bad and the broth did not taste good. The toilets were found to be stinking and the kitchen was not clean and not only the poor, the needy, and the labourers, but also the general public came to eat snacks, she noted.
After inspecting she said, “We will also issue a notice to them on behalf of our Municipality for not maintaining cleanliness of the canteen, failing which a letter will be written to the Deputy Commissioner against them,” she said.
