Hassan: Owing to Hijab – Saffron Shawl row in the State, the rift between two communities are widening day by day. But here is a Muslim family setting an example for communal harmony by installing Ganapathi idol and offering pooja to it.
Riyaz Pasha, a resident of Deen Dayal Layout in Belur Town had sold his land to Naganna 8 years back. The land originally was granted to Riyaz’s father Basha Saheb under 1977 Tenancy Act.
Riyaz said that the Belur Chennakeshava Swamy came in the dream of his brother’s son and instructed to offer pooja by installing idol. The Riyaz family on Wednesday February 23 came to the property, which they sold, and installed idol under Banyan tree and offered pooja as per Hindu ritual and tradition. Priest Manjunath Shastri performed pooja.
The villagers also participated in the pooja. The devotion of Muslim family on Hindu deity sent a strong message of harmony to the society on religious unity.
