Hassan: The miscreants destroyed more than 500 arecanut plants in Ajjenahalli in Belur Taluk on the night of Saturday January 1. It is said that the arecanut estate belongs to Veeralingana Gowda of the same village, and miscreants have chopped more than 500 arecanut trees aged about 6 years.
Veeralingana Gowda said that the miscreants committed this heinous crime due to personal grudge. Grief stricken
Gowda added that he was watering the plants daily since 6 years, and tended to them with lot of passion. He said he has sent his children to work in bakery, and has been struggling in old age working in a piece of land. He urged the police to give severe punishment to miscreants.
Belur Tahsildar Lakshmi Narayan who visited the spot said that he would recommend the higher authorities to provide compensation to Gowda.
Halebeedu Police have egistered a case and are investigating.
Meanwhile, recently the miscreants destroyed grape estate in Ranganathapura of Devanahalli Taluk in Bengaluru District.
