Shivamogga: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, on Saturday, December 14, held a meeting with all the concerned officials about the commencement of the airport work in Shivamogga.

Since the people of the district have been demanding an airport for a while, it was decided that the construction work should start immediately. At the meeting, the change in runway length from 1.2 kilometers to 2.1 kilometers was approved by all. Since Rs 40 crores have already been allotted for the airport project, the CM said that the work should start immediately. He also promised that more funds will be provided in the future if needed.

BSY then gave the officials one week’s time to finish up all the necessary paperwork and start work on the ground. “Flights should be operational from the Shivamogga airport within six months’ time,” Yediyurappa added.

Additionally, Yediyurappa informed the officials that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had approved the work for the Sigandoor Bridge. He also suggested the acquisition of the Fort Gangore land in order to set up the Shivamogga Railway Terminal.

BJP MP B Y Raghavendra, district BJP President S Rudra Gowda, Shivamogga DC Shivakumar and others were present.
