Shivamogga: “During the revision of the voters’ list, every voter’s name should be mentioned in the list”, said the voters list revision observer Shalini Rajneesh, here on Saturday, November 24.
She inspected the voters’ list revision progress in the Deputy Commissioners office.
Shalini said, “It is important to have all the voters’ name in the list, especially who have attained the age of 18 years and women. The missing names also shall be included.”
She said, “There are around 46 slum areas and 28 Naxal-prone areas. In slums, a special campaign must be organized in order to help people register their names and in the Naxal-prone areas too.”
Shalini said, “Except Soraba and Shikaripura, rest of the constituencies have more number of female voters. According to the ratio for every 1000 male, there are 964 female voters in Shikaripura, and in Soraba the female voters’ number is 964.”
“The reason for drop in female voters in these constituencies also shall be inspected and with the cooperation of self-help groups special campaigns will be conducted” she added.
She said that all the registration forms were made available and that all the names must be finalized and put up in the respective polling booths. She also instructed the polling officers to have their identification cards worn on duty.
She insisted to download an app named ‘chunavana’ from the Google app store or check through the link ceokarnataka.kar.nic.in website. Also, people are requested to call the toll free number 1950 for any inquiries.
Deputy Commissioner K A Dayanand, CEO of Zilla Panchayat Shivaramegowda, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sangappa and other officers were present.
