Shivamogga: Five Bajrang Dal activists were arrested by the Police for allegedly assaulting a Muslim trader for selling Halal meat.

The right wing group campaign, ‘Boycott Halal products’ has intensified in the State making inroads into the District with incidents of threat and assault on Mulsim traders reported from Bhadravati and Hosamane among other places in the District.

The campaign has been gaining ground as many communities in Hindu fold prepare non-vegetarian feast on the day of ‘Hosa Tadaku’, a celebration undertaken a day after Ugadi festival in the State. Meanwhile Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has appealed to people to celebrate Ugadi and ‘Hosa Tadaku’ festivals, peacefully.
