Shivamogga: The Income Tax Department (I-T) sleuths conducted raids on the office and residential premises of District Commercial Cooperative (DCC) Bank President R M Manjunath Gowda in Shivamogga.
They simultaneously raided Manjunath Gowda’s office and residences in the city and Thirthahalli town.
The bank displayed signboards which read “No operations today on account of computer network problems” to ensure secrecy during raids.
Earlier the State Lokayukta had conducted raids on the premises of Gowda in connection with amassing wealth through illegal means. He is also an accused in the Apex Bank Recruitment Scam and for availing Rs 68 Crore loans from DCC Bank by pledging fake gold.
He lost the last assembly elections contesting on a KJP (then led by B S Yeddyurappa) ticket from Thirthahalli.
Manjunath Gowda recently joined Congress amid accusations of large payouts to the party leaders post demonetisation.
