Shivamogga: The Public Works Department (PWD) started work on the Agumbe Ghat road on Thursday. It will also construct a protection wall along 2.5 km of the section coming under the Shivamogga sub-division.
The PWD will spend a month on the repair of the road and construct protection walls along the curves. The idea of road widening was dropped by the PWD after the Forest Department opposed the move. PWD superintendent engineer Balakrishna informed that the work is expected to be complete in 15 days.
Vehicle movement has been prohibited by the district administration on the road till December 30.
