Shivamogga: An Executive and Administrative Assistant of Shivamogga Factory and Boilers Department have been caught by the Lokayukta on charges of bribery.
The Lokayukta Department has arrested Vittal Naik, Executive and Administrative Assistant of the Assistant Director of Shimoga Factory and Boilers Department, for allegedly accepting a bribe to cancel the license of a factory called Patel Tech Engineering Private Limited, a resident of Vinobanagar in the City.
When Rakesh Patel, the owner of Patel Tech Engineering Private Limited visited the office and asked for a certificate regarding the cancellation of his factory’s licence, Vittal Naik, the Supervisor of the Office, demanded money and received Rs. 15,000.
However, the cancellation certificate has not been issued. When he enquired about the certificate over the phone, the officer said he would give the certificate only if extra money paid. Even though it was financially incurring losses, again Rs. 30,000 was demanded. Rakesh Patel was not ready to give the bribe so he informed the Lokayuktha and a case has been registered on the basis of a complaint lodged at the Lokayukta’s Office on March 3, 2023.
Accordingly, when Vittal Naik was accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 30,000/-, Chitradurga Karnataka Lokayukta Office immediately under the guidance of Superintendent of Police N. Vasudevarama, Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Eshwara Naik, Karnataka Lokayukta, Shivamogga, a case was registered and the accused was arrested.
