Shivamogga: Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah questioned why justice was not provided to the victims of Sharavati despite having a double-engine Government.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said that thousands of people have been affected due to the construction of a dam across the Sharavati River and 130 villages for submerged. The victims were accommodated in the forest area, but the area has not been denotified by releasing the forest area. We went to the court against this and the denotification we had made was quashed by the Court, but the subsequent BJP Government did not do anything to correct it, he said.
“Though there is a BJP Government at the Centre and in the State, the denotification has not been done. Hence, the Congress is taking out a padayatra on behalf of the victims, he said.
