Shivamogga: The Hospital Struggle Committee has started an overnight sit-in near Santhe Market from Friday November 25 demanding a 100-bed hospital.
The sit-in, which has been launched across party lines, has received good support and the Government has been demanded construction of a 100-bed hospital and have been warned of not only to give assurances but fulfil the same.
They have started a dharna demanding that an order letter be issued immediately. Earlier, officials, Health Minister, Chief Minister and everyone else had given assurances but the hospital land has not been sanctioned.
The Samiti has warned that if the Government does not fulfil our demands, Koppa chalo will be held during the Chief Minister’s visit to Koppa on Sunday November 27, they said.
Speaking to the protesters, D. N. Jeevaraj, Politically Secretary to the CM, said that the Government has responded positively and requested them to withdraw their dharna.
He said the Government’s sanction will be confirmed by 20 days. Ranjith of the Samiti said that despite continuously fighting for a 100-bed hospital, the Government is still giving assurances. In 2007, the hospital was sanctioned for upgradation. He complained that the hospital was not built only on the pretext of space.
