Shivamogga govt schools should be model to other schools: K S Eshwarappa

Shivamogga: “The state government has released Rs 15 crores, for the first time, towards the repairs of 87 government higher primary schools. The quality should not be compromised,” said state rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa.

Addressing the gathering on Thursday, December 5, after the ‘Bhoomi Puja’ for the development of government primary and higher primary schools, he said, “Normally, the government schools in the urban areas don’t get funds for its development and repair works. But this time around, as a first, all the schools that come under the Shivamogga City Corporation have been given funds for development and repair. In the same manner, a Cabinet meeting will be held in order to sanction funds for other schools.”

“Funds for the construction of 47 toilets in the schools have also been sanctioned. The school’s development committee will be responsible for maintenance. It is not only the responsibility of the teachers and parents to see to it that the funds are used aptly, but also the public. In order to make the district government schools into model schools, one must see to it that the quality of work is not compromised.”

Speaking about the implementation of the Smart City project, Eshwarappa said, “Several works under the Smart City project have already been implemented. Around 100 parks will be constructed and the tender process for 35 of them have been initiated. As many as 24 crematoriums of the district will also be upgraded.”

Deputy Commissioner K B Shivakumar, Mayor of Shivamogga City Corporation Latha Ganesh, Deputy Mayor Channabasappa and others were present.
