Shivamogga: As soon as the news of BJP’s sitting MLC Ayanur Manjunath joining the Congress party came to the fore, leaders from Shivamogga rushed to Bengaluru and met Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committe (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar and Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah and urged them not to entertain outsiders.
Ayanur Manjunath, who is said to be contesting from Shivamogga City Constituency on a Congress ticket, has been opposed within the Congress party. There are 11 aspirants from the Congress Party for Shivamogga City Constituency and one of them should be given a ticket.
The aspirants, Corporators and Congress Leaders went to Bengaluru and met KPCC President D. K l. Shivakumar and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah. Out of the 11 applicants, a request has been made to give tickets to any of them.
If tickets are given to any one out of 11 people, we will work together. No one should be spared from outside. The leaders are pressurising them not to give tickets to outsiders. It is also learnt that they have also threatened to resign enmasse from the party if an outsider is given a ticket.
