Shivamogga: The Lokayukta Police raided the house of Joga Kargal Town Municipality Ward No 8 Member K. C. Harish, while he was taking bribe of Rs. 50,000 from chicken shop owner.
A few days ago, the Town Municipality had issued a notice to Ahmed Baqi, owner of a chicken shop on Jogada Bazaar Line, to close the shop after receiving complaints from the public that he was throwing waste into a nearby drain. Harish, who was the then a member of the same ward, approached the owner and demanded Rs. 1 lakh and promised to resolve the issue. After the discussion, owner of the chicken shop had agreed to give Rs.50,000. He then approached the Lokayukta Police and lodged a complaint in this regard.
The Lokayukta Police conducted a raid and arrested the accused Harish when he was receiving money in his house on Monday November 21 at 2.00 pm. Ahmed was giving the remaining amount to Harish.
As soon as the accused noticed the Lokayukta Police he tried to burn the notes from the fire of the gas stove in the kitchen.
Under the guidance of Chitradurga Lokayukta Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Vasudevarama, the raid was carried out.
