Shivamogga: A woman customer, who believed it to be an SMS of State Bank of India (SBI) Bank, was fined Rs. 1.56 lakh after she gave her PAN number, Aadhaar and OTP. The incident took place in the Sagar of the District.
Pooja R. of Subhash Nagar in the Town received a fake SMS on November 27 in the form of a fake SMS from SBI and was asked to send her PAN number. There was another message to send the OTP that came when Pooja sent her PAN number. The woman said that she had received an SMS from the bank and sent the Aadhaar card details and the OTPs that came back to the accused’s number via SMS.
Using this, the accused first paid Rs. 9,300. Eight minutes later, he withdrew Rs. 1,47,600.
