The ‘haves’ in Shivamogga bank on ‘have nots’ to whiten that black cash!

Shivamogga: If government makes smart moves to nab the hoarders, the latter do come up with smarter moves to save themselves. Believe it or not, in Shivamogga, the rich and the elite who are worried about the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes stashed in their homes are reportedly turning to gullible coolie and daily wage workers to make sure that at least a chunk of this gets exchanged in the bank.

After demonitising Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes, the central government had made provision to exchange the invalid notes at the bank, But, this comes with the clause that one individual can exchange only Rs 4,000.

This clause has come as a headache to the rich and with no other solution at sight; they have finally resorted to calling daily wage workers and labourers for help.

Hence over the last two days, the coolies, daily wage workers and even rogues on street who waste their time loitering around are the most sought after people as some real estate dealers, businessmen, money lenders and even politicians have directed their henchmen to pick some ‘convenient’ catch for them who could exchange their ‘black’ money. The henchmen who allocate this job make sure that the bundle of Rs 4000 lands in reliable hands.

For standing in the serpentine queue and exchanging the notes, these proxy owners of Rs 4000 receive a reward of Rs 500.

“I have been working as a mason for ‘anna’ over the last one and half decade. Now when Anna asked me to exchange this money, I was more than happy to do this for me. I have been asked to do this work and also arrange for some more people for the same task for the next two weeks,” says Rudrappa, mason working for construction tycoon.

Sources say that there are several innovative ideas that are being worked out by the hoarders in a desperate bid to whiten their black cash and this is one of them.

As of now, the strike on black money has surely bridged the gap between the rich and the poor temporarily!
