Father Muller Allied Health Sciences College inaugurated at Thumbay
Thumbay, Bantwal: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) marked a milestone with the inauguration of its 10th educational unit, the Father Muller Allied Health Sciences College, Thumbay (FMAHSCT). The event, held at the Florence Nightingale Hall, celebrated the beginning of new courses for 2024-25 and the installation of its first Principal, Dr. Shivashankara A. R.
Ceremony Overview
Presided over by Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, FMCI Director, the inauguration saw the presence of several dignitaries, including:
- Dr. Hilda Fernandes, Principal of FMCOAHS, Kankanady (Chief Guest).
- Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, Administrator, FMT.
- Dr. Kiran Shetty, Medical Superintendent, FMHT.
The event commenced with a prayer and ceremonial lamp-lighting. Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo welcomed the gathering, reflecting on FMCI Thumbay’s journey since its establishment in 2013 and its recent NABH accreditation for 2024-28.
Inaugural Highlights
- Dr. Hilda Fernandes highlighted the indispensable role of allied health professionals in public health and encouraged students to embrace their clinical roles with dedication.
- Dr. Shivashankara A. R., with 17 years at FMCI, took charge as Principal and urged students to focus on gaining clinical experience while maintaining a human touch.
- Rev. Fr. Coelho reassured students and parents about the quality of education at the Thumbay campus, equating its opportunities to those at the main campus in Kankanady.
Academic Launch
The inaugural batches for B.Sc. Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (AT/OT) and B.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) were announced, each with 10 seats. The courses blend theoretical and practical learning to prepare students for dynamic healthcare roles.
Qualified faculty and state-of-the-art facilities were also introduced, cementing Thumbay’s growing reputation as a hub of academic and professional growth.
