Mangalore University Sets Date For Annual Convocation Amid Delays

After a period of uncertainty, Mangalore University has announced that its annual convocation ceremony will be held on June 15. Typically scheduled for March or April, this year’s convocation was postponed due to the general elections and the unavailability of the governor of Karnataka, who serves as the university’s chancellor.

“We have now officially been able to schedule the 42nd Convocation of Mangalore University for June 15,” stated PL Dharma, the university’s vice-chancellor. He confirmed the presence of the governor of Karnataka, the higher education minister MC Sudhakar, and Sachin Chaturvedi, director-general of the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), as the chief guest and convocation speaker.

Despite concerns about the monsoon season affecting attendance, Dharma assured that arrangements would be made for the smooth conduct of the event. Additionally, the university has submitted names for honorary doctorate degrees to the governor’s office for approval.

The convocation ceremony, although low-key to focus on cost-cutting, will proceed without changes to its format or significance.
