Seven-Year-Old Girl Killed by Falling Compound Wall

In a heartbreaking incident in Mangaluru, a seven-year-old schoolgirl tragically lost her life when a part of a compound wall collapsed on her while she was playing on Monday, according to the police.

Shazia, the daughter of Siddique and Jameela from the new Padpu village of Harekala in Mangaluru Taluk, was involved in the accident.

The school administration stated that Shazia was playing with the gate when the wall collapsed. Due to heavy overnight rain, the foundation of both pillars supporting the gate had weakened, leading to the unfortunate incident. The police have initiated an investigation and registered a case.

The school where the incident occurred was constructed by Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba, who used the money he earned by selling oranges in Mangaluru city. He dedicated his life savings to building this school in the remote areas of Mangaluru Taluk. In recognition of his remarkable contribution, the government honored him with the Padma Shri award in 2022.
