Udupi: Around 2,349 enumerators have been appointed for the Social and Educational Survey (caste census) that will be held from 11th to 30th April in the district- ADC.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar while speaking in an interaction programme organized by information department on Monday said that all the enumerators will work under 390 supervisors. An additional 108 enumerators have been reserved for emergency.
The survey will be conducted according to the 2011 population census. Enumerators will work on 55 columns in the survey form, from 7 am to 9 PM that will include every house.
Information about the educational, social and economic details of each household will be collected. However if the public is uncomfortable about any question, they would not be forced.
The census questionnaire has six aspects, starting with address – geographical location, personal details -head of the family and the members. Household, Educational and Employment details of the family members will be asked. Annual income of the family, income tax details, bank accounts. Membership in local bodies and cooperative societies and economic, social aspects especially land holdings, movable and immovable properties, water sources in the house, toilet facilities and so on will be included in the survey.
“There are 1,500 castes in the survey list, if any caste or sub-caste had been left out, they could be added as there is an option for it. The information will be kept confidential and the census details may be used for social welfare programmes by the government” he added.
