Udupi: Inaugurating the Lions-BEL Burns Centre at the government hospital, UT Khader – Health and Family Welfare Minister, said that the taluk-level government hospital will be upgraded soon in the district.
He added that under the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme, BEL Burns Centre, that was constructed at a cost of Rs. 80 lakh is an example for the best utilization of funds. BPL card holders will get free treatment for burn injuries. APL concession will bef 70 percent.
When the hospital comes under the Vajpayee Arogyashree Scheme, even APL cardholders would get free treatment, the minister said.
People of coastal districts were indifferent to the Mekedatu project as they were given the cold shoulder in their struggle against the Yettinahole project he added.
Shobha Karandlaje, MP, called upon young doctors to serve in rural areas. “Now the situation is that government should give more seats to the students and fees should also be borne by the government, this will enable such medical graduates to serve in rural areas”, she said.
