Bidar: District In-Charge Minister Ishwar B Khandre hoisted National Flag at Nehru Stadium During Kalyana Karnataka Festival. While India achieved Independence on August 15, 1947, Kalyana Karnataka attained its autonomy on September 17, 1948.
The people of this region achieved their freedom through dedication and sacrifices. On this occasion, it’s essential to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. India successfully integrated over 565 princely states into the federal structure, but the Nizam of Hyderabad initially resisted joining India. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, serving as the Home Minister at the time, displayed unwavering resolve and executed Operation Polo, leading to the surrender of the Nizam. This event marked the liberation of Hyderabad Karnataka,” stated Khandre.
The freedom movement was led by prominent figures such as Swami Ramananda Tirtha, Jagannathrao Chandriki, Dattatreya Avaradi, Shivamurthy Swami Alavandi, Mahadevappa Lokhande, Prabhurao Kambaliwale, Kashappa Khandre, Bheemanna Khandre, and numerous other dedicated individuals.
