Mysuru: Eight children belonging to Balamandira (state home for girls), which is run by Women and Child Welfare Department, admitted to KR Hospital for suspected acute gastroenteritis here on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning all of sudden, nearly 14 children belonging to Balamandira developed stomach ache and vomiting. Soon the staff members of Balamandira managed to shift all the children to KR hospital for treatment. The children undergoing treatment at hospital allege that they are not provided proper and timely food. Among 14 children, eight of them have been admitted while the rest were administered medication and sent back to the centre.
S Chandrashekar, Superintendent of KR Hospital said that it is suspected that they are suffering from acute gastroenteritis which is reported due to food poisoning or unhygienic water. All the eight children who are admitted are out of danger.
The Balamandir houses as many as 60 children in the age group between 6 and 16 years.
