Mysuru: The Railway Protection Force, Mysuru division, South Western Railway personnel who were investigating the case related to Rs 10.35 Lakh cash missing from Arsikere Railway Station have arrested five railway employees.
Prakash Panda, Division Security Commissioner (Railway Protection Force), Mysuru division, South Western Railway said, “Based on circumstantial evidence we have arrested five railway employees who were working at Arsikere Railway Station during the time of crime. They are K Sumalatha, Sharif, Anand , Rajesh and Shinoji. All the five were produced before the court. Sumalatha and Sharif are in judicial custody while Anand, Rajesh and Shinoji R Rao are in RPF custody. We are still investigating and hopeful of cracking the case very soon”.
On August 15, Rs 10.35 Lakh which was the total fare collection at Arsikere Railway Station from tickets and parcel during four days was found missing. A complaint regarding the same was given by K Sumalatha and Senior Supervisor Riyaz Ahmed. Soon RPF took up the case and started investigating. During preliminary investigations, Commissioner Panda had also mentioned that the box in which the cash was kept was not broken and it was found intact. Thus it came to light that no outsiders were involved in the crime and that it was the handy work of the insiders.
