Mysuru: Karnataka is witnessing vagaries of the weather in the worst form in the last few days. Bengaluru city recorded the highest November temperature of 33 degrees since 2002 where as Mysuru recorded lowest temperature below 10 degrees.
The cultural city experiencing unusual cold conditions reported the death of seven zoo animals in the last three weeks. They include a pregnant zebra, king cobra, rhinoceros, python, fox and a loris.
Reacting on the deaths, Mysuru Zoo executive Director K Kamala said some animals had died due to sickness and old age and the staff were taking care of the rest.
Public need not be alarmed by the prevailing situation as it was a natural process, she clarified.
Zoo vets and staff were seen monitoring the situation and providing medication to safeguard them from severe cold following the death of few animals.
