Mysuru: “We appreciate the whole Kannada film industry which supported the Kalasa Banduri agitation and held a road show for the implementation of project, condemning the serial deaths of farmers and their plight. But actors, artists and businessmen who have money should provide cows, sheep, goat and buffalo to the distressed farmers”, advised Farmer leader Kuruburu Shanthakumar.
He was speaking at a press meet in Mysuru recently and said that the film industry came together to support the cause of state farmers. “But in our neighbouring Andhra Pradesh state, actors and actresses have given financial aid to those farmers who are in distress. Same way, we too have artists and businessmen who have enough money and they can provide cattle to the kin of deceased farmers thereby help them”.
He added that the Central government has not responded to the issue of Kalasa Banduri and plight of distressed farmers. Condemning the Centre’s attitude towards state, all the farmers associations will hold protest in New Delhi and issue notice to the government on October 2, the day of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi.
A massive protest will be held and we will issue notice giving deadline to sort out the issue, he said.
