Mysuru: Rationalist K S Bhagwan has been facing the wrath of a few sections of the society for allegedly making derogatory comments against Hindus. After right wing activists, now a team of advocates have asked the police to take action against the writer.
On Wednesday, advocates, led by senior advocate C.V. Keshavamurthy yesterday, submitted a memorandum to DCP N.D. Birje seeking action against Bhagwan.
Earlier VHP had filed a complaint at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station accusing Prof. Bhagwan of attempting to burn a copy of the Bhagavadgita in the presence of District Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad at a programme held in Feb. 2015. Even Mysuru Rakshana Vedike had filed a complaint against the writer. However, Bhagwan got anticipatory bail and was not arrested.
Even after several complaints against him, Bhagwan has continued to make derogatory remarks against the Hindus, which will pose law and order problems. Hence, action must be taken against him, demanded advocates.
Accusing the writer of violating anticipatory bail conditions, the advocates took strong exception to the Police asking the complainants themselves to provide witnesses. The advocates said that the District Minister, who was present at the programme, be made a witness and also urged them to collect all the evidence from the organisers.
DCP N.D. Birje, assured action against the writer at the earliest.
