Mysuru: Makara Sankranti is one of the major festivals celebrated in the State and puranas say that it has a lot of significance.

Amidst the threat of Coronavirus pandemic, people in Mysuru made their way to the nearest market to buy flowers, fruits, sugarcane, sesame seeds and sugar. Womenfolk were also seen going on a shopping spree to buy new clothes.
There’s another ritual that takes place in rural areas of State as farmers make cows and bulls run through fire! The ritual is named ‘Kicchu Hayisuvudu,’ and involves cows, bulls and their masters running through flames. It is believed that doing so will ward-off evil and bring good luck to them.
