Auto driver’s daughter bags 12 gold medals at Mysuru University

Mysuru: It was a proud moment for this auto driver, whose daughter bagged 12 gold medals and three cash prizes at the 96th convocation of the University of Mysore, coinciding with its centenary year which was held on April 11.


Suma, daughter of an auto driver from Ittigegoodu in Mysuru bagged 13 gold medals in M.Sc(Chemistry).

Suma speaking to Newskarnataka said, “My hardwork has paid off and I am really happy for winning these many medals. My parents even though were financially weak, allowed me to study and hence I dedicate these medals to them.”

She also thanked Maharani college for all the support.

Tea vendor, coolie worker’s daughters shine

Meanwhile, a tea vendor and a coolie worker too fought back tears as their daughters bagged medals.

Shambhavi, student of B.Sc(Science and Technology) a daughter of Tea seller from a small village in Talakadu in Mysuru bagged three gold medals and three cash prizes.

Daily wage worker Krishna’s daughter Pushpa bagged three gold medals and three cash prizes in B.Sc.

Darshan Kumar son of retired Postman Shadakshari from Kolur village in K R Nagar bagged three gold and a cash prize.

Darshan said that it was the great support he received from the college and his parents enabled him to score well.
