Mysuru: In a noble attempt to increase confidence among the farmers in Mysuru district, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) President Dr. Pushpa B. Amarnath today flagged off ‘Baduku Besaya,’ a mobile rally at the ZP premises in the city.
The rally will cover about 200 villages in the district from today till Aug. 23, under the joint auspices of the Department of Information and Public Relations, ZP and the District Administration.
Speaking on the occasion, Amarnath said that ‘Grama Vahini,’ a vehicle specially designed by the Information Department for the rally, would reach Doddakoppalu in K.R. Nagar taluk today and spread awareness among farmers on how to build their confidence and not take extreme steps in times of crisis.
The Sambrama artistes’ group from Bannur which is accompanying ‘Grama Vahini,’ will enact plays during the one hour duration stops at vantage points in the villages to create awareness among farmers, songs sung by Rangayana Director H. Janardhan and his team will be played and videos will also be screened for benefit of farmers, the ZP President added.
The CM’s audio message appealing farmers not to take extreme steps would be sent to the farmers, Dr. Pushpa said and added that the Govt. is taking all measures to curb the increasing number of farmer suicides.
