Mysuru: The recent comment on the beef row by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seems to have not gone down well with opposition BJP as it is planning to take legal action on the former in this regard.
State BJP along with C T Ravi said that being a non-practising advocate, the CM should have known that his statement, made in the capacity of holding a constitutional post, would provoke a section of the society against the Constitution.

“Before challenging the BJP on this issue, the chief minister should seek the reaction of his wife, who worships cattle for the welfare of her husband and family members”, the BJP leader said.

Member of Parliament Prathap Simha also criticised the CM for his remarks and said that, of the 21 states which have banned cow slaughter, Congress was in power in 17 states when the ban was enforced.

State BJP president Pralhad Joshi also held a press meet in Kodagu and said that Siddaramaiah’s statement is an attempt to disrupt communal harmony.

He said that the chief minister should not have given the statement in the wake of the Dadri lynching incident, which Joshi termed unfortunate. Joshi said that the scientists and writers were returning their awards since they could not find any other reason for targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The State BJP will write a complaint to Governor Vajubhai Vala and initiate legal action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Taking a stand in the ongoing beef row in the country, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made a remark that it was his right to eat beef and nobody can stop him. Speaking at a Youth Congress event the Chief Minister said, “I haven’t had beef. But I will eat. Who are you to question? Whatever is comfortable for me, I will eat.”

CM had also contended that unnecessary issues are being raked under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of focusing on development of the nation.

The growing intolerance in the country has compelled many writers, historians, filmmakers to protest. They have returned their national awards opposing highly vitiated atmosphere prevailing in the country.
