Mysuru: A moving car went up in flames after it had a friction with a dry horse gram haystack lying on the road. Fortunately, no loss of lives was reported due to the car driver’s presence of mind, though the entire vehicle was charred beyond recognition in the incident.
The incident took place on M C Hundi Road of T. Narsipur taluk on December 18. The oncoming vehicle drivers alerted the driver of the ill-fated vehicle after they noticed flames beneath the moving car. Soon the driver stopped the vehicle and asked the passengers to alight quickly. Within moments, the entire car burst into flames with smoke billowing for a long distance in the clear skies.
After harvesting the horse gram crop, the farm labourers had strewn the dry haystack on the road. With powerful sunshine, a small friction ignited the dry grass resulting in the fire, said witnesses reacting on the incident.
