Mysuru : The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC) has given a shock to Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL) and other government offices in Mysuru by disconnecting power supply over non-payment of power bills. The CNNL Alambur Irrigation un6it in Nanjanagudu Taluk  defaulted more than Rs. 19 Crore power bill dues since last two years. The CESC disconnected  power supply on Wednesday January 5.

When contacted CESC officers said that we have been sending notices since September last and the outstanding dues stood at Rs. 19,34,67,342 till end of December 2021.

On August last CESC had disconnected power supply of Deputy Commissioner’s office, Mini Vidhana Soudha, Public wlWorks Department, Maharani College, Minor Irrigation Department and other government offices. All these offices were in dark for many days and power connection was restored only after payment of bills. People faced a lot of hardships to get work done due to power disconnection.

The Deputy Commissioner’s Office had defaulted payment to the tune of Rs. 3.50 lakh from 5 power metres. Mini Vidhana Soudha kept Rs. 3.90 lakh pending from 6 power connections. PWD Office had defaulted Rs. 56000, Minor Irrigation Department  kept Rs. 18000 power
bill payment pending. The Sub-Registrar’s office halted registration of properties for many days due to no power. Now the disconnection of power to CNNL is all likely to hamper water supply to  farmers.
