2.5 acres of forest burnt in fire at Bandipur Tiger Reserve

Chamarajanagara: More than 2.5 acres of the Bandipur Tiger Reserve at the District has been burnt in a fire that broke out on Sunday March 6.

The fire broke out in the afternoon of Sunday. No wildlife was affected, said Forest officials. The fire likely to have caused by dry vegetation was noticed by staff at the Moolapura Betta Forest in the Bandipur range.

As a precautionary measure, The Forest Department has constructed 20 watchtowers to keep round the clock vigil, and has deployed 400 forest guards as a precautionary measure.
