Chamarajanagara: 46 houses damaged due to untimely rains

Chamarajanagara: The untimely rains created much damage to the district since a month. Normally the district receives first showers during March – April. This year too the district received first showers on March 19 but the force of rain and winds caused the District a lot of damage.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Katyayini told reporters that so far 46 houses were damaged in the District from March 19 to April 5 rains. She said  149.33 hectares of plantain crop was destroyed and 33.50 hectares of sugar cane and maize crops were destroyed. Further, she said that 57 power poles and  one transformer were destroyed in Chamarajanagara and Gundlupete Taluks causing huge losses to the District.

ADC also informed that compensation were distributed to farmers for house and crop damages.
