Chamarajanagara: Female elephant dies of electrocution

Chamarajanagara: In a tragic incident, a female elephant died after contacting a live electric wire at a farm in Doddabaragi Village of Hebballa Patrol in Hediyala Sub-Division of Bandipura Tiger Reserve.

The land belongs to one Gopal, a farmer. A case has been registered against the landowner under the Forest Act.

The elephant is estimated to be about 30 years old. On being informed, the Forest Officials and Staff visited the spot and undertook an inspection.

After conducting an autopsy on the elephant, a few parts were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, Mysuru for further analysis. The body was buried in a pit.
