Chamarajanagara: Farmer Leader Angalli Basavaraju criticised that it was ridiculous for some farmer leaders to walk out of the meeting on the pretense that Minister V. Somanna, who was ready to address farmers’ grievances, came late.
Speaking at the press conference, he said, what did the farmers’ leaders achieve by boycotting the minister’s meeting? It was the farmers who neglected the problems of the District by pretending that the responsible minister came an hour late, not the officers and the minister. He expressed displeasure that few farmer leaders are working to mislead the organisation for their prestige.
He said, Minister V. Somanna did not come late intentionally. Earlier, on the way to the City in Kollegala, theleaders of Dalit organisations stopped the car and held a discussion to set a date for the unveiling of the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s statue. He was taken to the designated place too, which is why he came late, he clarified.
