Chamarajanagara: Three held, Rs 25L worth gold seized

Chamarajanagara: The Police arrested three persons on charges of stealing gold jewellery and cash from a house in Chamarajanagara on Tuesday February 7.

The arrested have been identified as Bharat of Kamagere Village of Kollegala Taluk, Kavya of Gundlupete and Lohit Kumar of Mysuru.

According to Police Kollegala Datta Medicals Owner Vinay went to Shivamogga to attend a family function on January 18 last, and Vinay’s wife has gone medical shop. Taking the opportunity, the accused Bharat who was working in Vinay’s elder brother Nagaraju’s medical shop hatched a plan to loot the house.

He gained entry to Vinay’s house by breaking the door open and decamped with gold jewellery weighing 518 gm and Rs. 20,000 in cash. The accused Bharat availed his friend Lohit Kumar’s help for burgling the house.

After the theft the accused Bharat gave gold ornaments to his lover Kavya, who was running a beauty parlour in Mysuru for selling it. Upon investigation Police found Bharat on CCTV footage and arrested him along with two accomplices.

Police registered a case, produced the accused before Kollegala JMFC Court which remanded them to judicial custody for 14 days.
