Chikkamagaluru: JD (S) City General Secretary C. K. Murthy has said that just as the party has announced H. D. Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister of the Party, the BJP should announce who will be the Chief Minister before the elections and put an end to the “baseless” statements made by C. T. Ravi.

In a statement on Friday February 10 he said that the BJP is contesting elections without specifying who will be the Chief Minister but the JD (S) has no confusions. Kumaraswamy has been declared as the Chief Minister and is all set to face the elections bravely, he said.

“The local MLAs are trying to gain publicity and rise to the top by making derogatory statements on senior politicians in the State, and those MLAs are behaving in such a way where they fear of losing their seats at the end,” he said.

“Instead of contesting elections in the name of Pralhad Joshi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai or anyone else, the BJP is trying to get a lot of publicity by making statements against stalwarts of the JD (S), he noted.

Ravi, who has been an MLA in the Constituency for 20 years, is contesting elections on the issue of development of the District. Basavanahalli Lake and Kote Lake works are being done only by removing the soil and nothing more, and tenders have been called for the remaining work, he alleged.

The AMRUT project has not been completed even after many years of its inception. Sewage water is flowing on major roads of the City and poor work has been done. This time, the voters will teach a lesson to those who are indulging in such shoddy work and rampant corruption, he said.

“Organisations and Government offices across the country release and distribute a calendar in early January. But to what extent is it correct that the Municipal Administration released the calendar in February after January?, questioned and said that since the local MLAs are afraid to face elections in the Constituency, they are dreaming of winning by telling them about senior politicians and the people will be aware of this and will vote for the JD (S) in the Constituency and it will be a boon for them to win,” he said.
