Chamarajanagara: Indian student Bhumika who has been pursuing Medical studies in Ukraine returned to her native Kollegala in the District on the night of Friday March 4.
Speaking to reporters she explained horrific experiences in war-hit country. She said that Indian embassy instructed all students to return home on February 15 itself but they did not take it seriously. But the situation worsened after February 21. She said the it is the Indian flag shielded them till boarding flight. She said that after 3 – 4 days of beginning of war Russian forces attacked residential areas. She said that she was part of 70 students reached Poland from Kyiv/Kiev in a bus. The Indian embassy made arrangements to reach Poland with tricolour fixed in front of bus. She said that she was apprehensive as to whether she would reach home or not amid bomb attacks.
Kollegala MLA N. Mahesh on Saturday March 5 visited Bhumika. He said the State and Union Governments have been striving hard to bring all Indian students from Ukraine safely.
