Chamraj Nagar: Police managed to arrest a gang of four robbers on Saturday night. Deputy Superintendent of Police K. S. Sundar Raj told reporters that the arrested are identified as Abhishek (26), Muthuswamy (26), Mallesh (27), and Srinivas (26). All are residents of Hanur Taluk in district.
Police team led by DYSP Nagaraju arrested the gang at Siddayyanapura village on Bangalore-Kollegala national highway. ASP Sundar Raj told that the gang attempted to rob bikers and car owners at night using lethal weapons. He said that one of the suspects fled in the dark while the other four were caught.
He further said that during interrogation the gang confessed that they made an abortive bid to loot MDCC bank in Kollegala on June 13 at night. The gang also made a bid to loot SBI branch in Ponnachi, Tamilnadu just ten days back. The gang broke open the main door of bank, decamped with computers, CCTV DVR and amplifiers when they failed to open strong room. He said acting on definite clues Police rounded up the gang in highway and managed to arrest. Search is on to nab another accused.
