Sniffer dog Jhansi joins Forest Department

Chamarajanagara: Sniffer dog Jhansi joined Biligiriranganatha Swamy Temple (BRT) tiger reserve on Thursday November 25. The german shepherd dog was trained for 7 months at ITBP in Chandigarh unit.

The Forest Guard Basavaraju and Forest Watcher Siddaramanna also is trained to handle the dog. This is the first time BRT Tiger Reserve Forest Force will have sniffer dog while Bandipura Tiger Reserve is already equipped with a sniffer dog Rana and Mudhol dogs.

BRT Deputy Conservator of Forests Dr. Santhosh Kumar  told that the dog will be deputed to Punajanur Forest Range. He said with arrival of the dog, poaching, and other forest offences would be efficiently curbed.
