Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation is going all out in its efforts to create awareness about the Swachata Abhiyan campaign. Apart from Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, Javagal Srinath, Yaduveer Wadiyar, Mokshatmanandaji of Ramakrishna Ashram and Yoga Practitioner Kushi as its brand ambassadors, it will also involve various community leaders including Suttur Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Matt, Bishop Rev. K A William and Muslim community heads including Moulvi.

The brand ambassadors of the campaign discussed various strategies of the swachata campaign at Mysuru Palace in the presence of Mayor M J Ravi Kumar and Corporation Commissioner Jagadeesh. The ambassadors came up with various suggestions including the inclusion of the Swachatha app in the handbill to be distributed to all the houses in the city.

Javagal Srinath also suggested making maximum use of school children, who are the key to, not only keeping their school premises clean, but also informing their parents and relatives to keep their premises neat and clean.

In order to spread the message among the people across the city, the corporation wanted all the ambassadors in one place and therefore, the meeting was convened at the palace on Sunday. During the last two years, the corporation has utilised the service of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and Yaduveer in order to create awareness about the Swachatha Abhiyan campaign but this year for every 5 lakh to 6 lakh population, a minimum of five ambassadors will be there. For the corporation to be able to reach out to everyone, including various community leaders, it will be having a minimum of 10 brand ambassadors to promote cleanliness awareness.

Former Indian speedster Javagal Srinath and Yoga Practitioner Kushi, who created a new Book of World Records will be focusing more on students.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Jagadeesh said, “We had a meeting with our brand ambassadors for the Swachatha Abhiyan to create awareness among public. We want to make maximum use of these ambassadors. Their messages will be carried in various print, electronic and social media. Apart from this, a vehicle with a big screen carrying the messages of the brand ambassadors will be used.” He added that electronic display boards would be set up by the information department near Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple and five such electronic boards will be set up at prominent thoroughfares in the city including bus stands, Mysuru Railway Station and K R Circle.

Swachatha committee in each school:

To reach out to school students, the corporation will be convening meetings with DDPI and will come out with a Swachatha committee in each school. Every class will have a leader and create awareness about cleanliness. Awareness will be created in such a way that they go home and enlighten their parents. On November 13, a school related campaign started from St. Joseph’s Central in Vijaynagar where Kushi comes from.

More focus on Citizen Feedback:

Last year Mysuru city, which didn’t do well in citizen feedback is more focused on this aspect which has 1400 marks out of 4000 marks. In this regard, for the first time, they have included “have you installed Swachata App” in their hand bill which will be distributed to each and every house.
