Dalit Sangarsh Samiti Protests over Ambedkars Pic in Disposable Plates

Mysore: The district of Dalit Sangarsh Samiti (DSS) staged protest in front of Deputy Commissioners office here on Monday May 6, against using disposable plates that are printed with the pictures of Dr B R Ambedkar and social reformer to distribute food to party activists during assembly elections.

Addressing the protesters, DSS district convener Shambulingaswamy said that Hunsoor legislative constituency independent candidate C T Rajanna had organized the food in violation of poll conduct during assembly elections.  Besides, the plates that had the pictures of Dr Ambedkar and social reformer were used to distribute food, which has hurt the feelings of Dalits, alleged Shambulingaswamy.

Its owing to the reckless act, the pictures of national leaders are disgraced as they were dumped in the garbage.  It would ignite communal flare up, said Shambulingaswamy.  He urged the police to take legal action on the company owners for manufacturing such plates and register a case under Dalit atrocities Act, and arrest them, urged Shambulingaswamy.

The district assistant convener Choranahalli Shivanna, taluk convener Bheemaraju, S Rajanna, Apsar, Mallesh and others were present at the occasion.
