Mysuru: To celebrate the age-old traditions and delicacies on the festive occasion of Mysuru Dasara, people gathered together in a Ragi Mudde (steamed dumpling made from ragi flour) and Mysuru pak eating competition which was held in front of Devraj Market on October 20.
The Ragi Mudde eating competition was held for men in which several men from around the city participated with great enthusiasm. Basavaraju, who is a fruit vendor in the same market ate as many as 7 mudde’s and bagged the first prize.
In the Mysore pak eating competition, Bhagirathi from the city bagged the first prize by eating 5 mysore pak’s. More than 15 women participated in the fun filled competition. Sudha, who ate four and a half Mysore pak’s won the second prize.
Despite low key Dasara celebrations over agrarian crisis across the state, the unique competition drew the attention of spectators who were gathered in large numbers.
